What does shipped mean?

When you place an order online you often receive a notification that your order has been shipped. Once the order is packed and handed over by the seller to shipping partner like UPS, FEDEX, DHL etc it means your order has been shipped and is on the way to its final destination.

Thus, shipped means your orders in on the way to your delivery address and will reach you soon.

Does shipped mean order has been delivered?

No shipped does not mean that the order has been delivered. Order has been delivered and shipped are two completely different terms.

Order has been delivered means that the delivery partner has successfully dropped the package at your delivery address and has completed the fulfilment process.

Order has been shipped means it has been handed over to the delivery partner by the seller and is on its way to you.

The start of fulfilment process is shipped and completion of fulfilment cycle is delivered.

What does out for delivery mean?

Out for delivery means that the delivery partner is out to deliver the order at your address. Out for delivery most of the time means that your order will be delivered the same day. In case the order is not delivered after this status it will usually be reattempted for delivery or sent back to the seller.

 

What does in transit mean?

In transit means that order is on the way to be delivered to you. It is already handed over to delivery partner by the seller and can reach you anytime. The order can be anywhere on the way  now .Exact location can be tracked using the tracking number.

How can you track your order?

You usually receive a tracking number from seller after the order has been shipped. You can use that tracking number online on the delivery partners website or give them a call asking them to share the location of the package by sharing the tracking number.

 

How to find estimated delivery?

By using tracking number, you can easily find the estimated delivery time of your order.

Also, at the time of placing the order the sellers share estimated delivery time on the check-out page or at the time of placing the order.

You can always contact the seller to find the estimated delivery time or check it yourself on the shipping policy of the seller’s website.

What to do if your package is lost?

Sometimes the tracking status shows that your package is delivered but you never received the package. You can then follow the below steps to report the lost package.

1.Check if the delivery person attempted delivery or tried contacting you at the time of delivering the package.

2.Check if your neighbours or someone in your family accepted the package on your behalf.

  1. If the above is not true you can call or email the delivery company and report the lost package. They would then track package and try to find it.
  2. You should also inform the seller so that they can also contact the delivery company and confirm the same.

This usually happens very rarely and most of the times package are delivered on time. Also some seller do insure all the packages being shipped and can also advise you further.

Also make sure that you package is not stolen from your porch or delivery address as this is also another common issue for packages being lost after they are delivered.

How to report damaged packages?

You should contact the seller and delivery company immediately and report damaged packages. Make sure to click pictures of the same and send it to the delivery company via email. You can ask the seller for replacement or refund and send the damaged package back to seller if required.

There are many delivery terms used which are visible when you track your order. Below is a list of common tracking terms.

1.Accepted by Carrier– This means that the seller has handed over the package to the carrier company and they have updated the tracking status

2.Arrived at regional carrier warehouse-Carrier sends it to their regional warehouse for processing the packages and then sorting them out before forwarding the packages

4.Reached local post office-It was has reached your nearest local post office.

5.Out for delivery– The delivery person is out to deliver your package. It will be usually delivered the same day.

6 Scheduled deliveries for next business day-If you are office premises is closed, they would deliver the next business day.

7 Delivery reattempt- If they fail to deliver the package for any reason, they would try to deliver the package again.

8 Delivered- Package is successfully delivered at your address.

  1. Returned to shipper- In case delivery is not accepted or they are unable to deliver the package is returned to the shipper.

What is last mile delivery?

Last mile delivery is the final stage in the fulfilment process. The delivery partner collects the package and finally delivers it to the customers address.

This final step in the fulfillment cycle is called last mile delivery. The delivery partner then updates the status of package as delivered. Some packages may require customers signature at the time of delivery. In case the delivery partner is unable to deliver the package he will reattempt the delivery or send it back to the seller next day.
